A number of Herts phoenix throwers got their outdoor season off to a wet and windy start on Sunday 16th March at the Cambridgeshire AA Throws Festival at the university athletic track, Cambridge.

Several Herts Phoenix athletes were selected to represent Hertfordshire in the Inter Counties Championships held at Wollaton Park, Nottingham last Saturday on a dull, windy day but with dry conditions underfoot over the undulating and testing courses.

Herts Phoenix Veterans, or Masters if you prefer, acquitted themselves excellently at the Hertfordshire Veterans Cross Country Championships, held at Letchworth on Sunday 9 March 2008, winning the team Gold medals in both the M50 and M60 categories.

The Indoor season drew to a close on Sunday with the Herts and Middlesex Indoor Championships at Pickets Lock. Many of the clubs athletes took the opportunity to compete and others to use the day as a form of competitive training to gauge their progress this winter.  A full set of results is now available via "Results" in the Main Menu then click "Track & Field".

Five of the Club's promising young athletes made the long journey north last saturday to represent Hertfordshire in the annual English Schools Cross Country Championships held in the picturesque Sefton Park in Liverpool. There were excellent performances from Vasudev Zaver and Edward Shepherd in the Junior Boys race over 3,750 metres, finishing in first and second places in the County Team.
