Nathan Wake returned to the track for the first time since June at the UK School Games in Bath this weekend. These games are a multi-sport event with athletics, judo, swimming, volleyball, fencing, table tennis, hockey, gymnastics and other sports specifically designed to recreate and prepare the competitors for the kind of atmosphere that athletes might expect if they progress to senior international level. |

Herts Phoenix Women were unable to retain the title which they had won in 2006 and 2007 in the Southern Women’s Track and Field league and ended 2008 in third position. The team travelled to Colchester last Saturday 30th August for their final match and were up against 3 local Essex teams - Colchester, Chelmsford and Basildon who used the advantage of a local fixture to field strong teams. Unfortunately, Herts Phoenix who were not fielding a strong team finished in 4th place in the match. Results now available on this web site. |

The crowd at the national championships in Birmingham were treated to a remarkable performance from sprint queen Jodie Williams to lighten a dark and rainy Saturday this weekend. Having won the U15 100m title at the English Schools Championships Jodie stepped up to challenge the U17s and in particular the very fast and talented Shaunna Thompson of Sale Harriers. |
