The second meeting of this winter's Metropolitan Cross Country League was held at Claybury on Saturday 10th November 2007. There was another good set of results from the younger Herts Phoenix athletes at this event which was held over a very challenging course but in ideal weather conditions. A full set of results is now available on this web site. However, the individual results for Club athletes were as follow: |

Edward Shepherd travelled up to Gateshead with his family last Saturday to compete in the first race of the season's UK Challenge. Competing as a first year under 15. Edward ran very well to finish in 19th place in a time of 14 minutes 37 seconds and is now looking forward to racing in Liverpool in two weeks time in the second race of the series. |

Ian Miller won an impressive twelve gold and three silver medals at the recent Combined All Irish, European and World Throwers Championships in Dunboyne, County Meath. On the first day he overcame strong winds to come top in several over 60s events including heavy hammer, stone, grenade and goulding hammer. The following day, torrential rain could not hold him back as he scooped gold in the shot putt, highland turn and the hammer as well as the triathlon and pentathlon. In the latter, he threw a personal best in the shot putt with 12.25m. |

Forget the disappointment of the rugby final and formula 1 events and celebrate the achievement of the Herts Phoenix AC under 11 team who pulled out all the stops to win the AAA’s Tom Pink Memorial Relays and field events Team Challenge at the Lee Valley Athletic Centre at Picketts Lock last Sunday. Teams from Brighton & Hove, Enfield & Haringey, Lee Valley, Trent Park, Woking AC and Tower Hamlets joined Herts Phoenix in this special event. |
