For the first time since Herts Phoenix AC was established in March 2002 a Senior Men’s Team qualified for the National Road Relay Championships that were held at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham on 20th October.  Two weeks ago the Club had won the final qualifying place in the South of England Relay Championships at Aldershot and travelled to Birmingham in an optimistic but realistic mood knowing that they would be competing against the best road running clubs in the country.

Herts Phoenix AC was well represented in the first of this winter’s Metropolitan Cross Country Meetings by both Senior and Junior members several of whom were making their first appearances in Club colours.  Full set of results now available on this web site.

This Saturday saw Richard Humphries taking part in his last hammer throw competition of the season at the Biggleswade AC open meeting.   A tremendous effort in the last round resulted in another big improvement to his personal best with a throw of 50.58m, taking him up to no. 6 in the under 15 boys Power of 10 UK rankings.

Herts Phoenix has in recent years gained fame as a track club, but on Sunday they took their first steps towards re-establishing their proud road-running roots as six athletes travelled to Aldershot to compete in the South of England 6 Stage Road Relays.
