There was an excellent turnout of athletes from Herts Phoenix AC for the first of this season’s Metropolitan League Cross Country matches held on Saturday 10th October in sunny, warm conditions over the very hilly and testing courses in the woods adjacent to Ruislip Lido. The first race of this season's Metropolitan Cross Country League takes place next weekend at Ruislip Lido.  For further information please click on the link under this fixture in "Latest Events" on the right hand side of the home page.

Herts Phoenix under 17 men’s team travelled to Aldershot to compete in the South of England 4 stage Road Relays on Saturday which were held in the Rushmoor Arena. In warm sunny conditions the athletes performed very well over the 3,851 metre undulating and twisting circuit to finish in 9th place out of the 43 teams that completed the event.

There is a Level 2 Officials' Course at Barnet Copthall Barnet Stadium on Satuday 17th October 2009.  This is the first  level of Officials' training available and anyone interested in attending should please go to www.englandathletics.org/page.asp click on "Officials" in the column on the left of the page, when this appears  click on "Officials Licence Application Form" on the right of the page - print this off, complete and send with photo to Adrian Newman, 3 Scotts Road, Ware, Herts SG12 9JG as soon as possible.

The Club's young athletes from U13 to U17 age groups performed brilliantly last weekend to take equal first place in the Plate Final of the Eastern Young Athletes League.  The team travelled to Cambridge for this final and although they were trailing in fourth place at times during the day, they finished very strongly to share the trophy with Dacorum & Tring AC.
