Claire Humphries 
Events: Sprint Hurdles, 100m, Long and Triple Jumps, Combined events - U17 Coach: Colin Gaynor Claire joined Herts Phoenix in 2005 through the Aqua Pura scheme following her performances at the Nicky Morris challenge event. Her first full season was 2006 and having joined the Gosling sprint hurdle group under head coach Colin Gaynor she progressed to the English Schools championships at Gateshead where she qualified for the final finsihing 5th. The camaraderie and competition within Colin's growing training group which includes Steph Gaynor, Helen van Kempen, Hannah LLoyd and Alec Wing has been one of the major reasons for her and their recent individual improvements. Other highlights are winning the Herts County Schools 100m in 2005 and 75mH and Long Jump in 2006 along with winning the Herts County AAAs 100m, Triple Jump and 75mH the same year. She represented the County Schools Pentathlon team in 2006 and was awarded the silver medal in the Herts AAAs Pentathlon at Eton last September.
This year has been more difficult with illness and injury but with her fitness returning Claire is hoping for improved luck for the rest of the season.
Other Interests - Claire plays guitar and listens to lots of music including bands such as My Chemical Romance, Oasis, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, KT Tunstall and Avril Lavigne. She plays football for Harvesters FC who won the County cup this year and she represented Herts County U16s this season. Training trips to portugal!
