A select few of our members competed at the BMAF Track & Field Champs the weekend before last at Birmingham, all to good effect. Most impressive was the, now expected, good performance of Arthur Thomson, who won both the M70 3000m and 5000m Walks. A full set of results is now available on this web site (click on "Results" in the menu).
In doing so he beat all the M65s, M60s and M45s also all but one of the M55s and M50s. Only competing in two events, rather than his now accustomed ten, Mike Dixon was 3rd in both the M60 800m and 1500m, both in excellent times. Mike Maisey was 3rd in the M55 Long Jump but, in doing so, injured himself and was disapppointed to only finish 5th in the 100m, two places down on last year’s performance. Our other competitor was Roger Head, who also achieved a bronze medal, finishing 3rd in the M65 800m.
