Herts Phoenix AC welcomes new prospective members of all standards from age 9 upwards.
We would encourage everyone to come along to one or two of our training sessions (see “Training Sessions” in “About the Club”) in the first instance to get a feel for the Club before deciding whether to join. Just introduce yourself to one of our Coaches when you arrive, we are confident that you will enjoy yourself. Once a member, there are many opportunities to compete at various different levels and we encourage members to do this where possible.
Our youngest athletes are usually introduced to the sport by joining our very popular Sportshall athletic sessions. Many will have the chance to compete for the Club and County if they want to and we have an excellent record in this form of the sport with many appearances in the annual National Finals at the NIA Birmingham.
Moving up the age groups from aged 11 right up to “veterans”, we compete in many track & field leagues catering for various standards, as well as Cross Country leagues and Road Racing competitions.
We are very proud to have been the first athletic club in Hertfordshire to achieve Clubmark status and we hope this gives confidence to parents when choosing a club for their children. Clubmark is the Sport England cross sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections. It is only awarded to those clubs that comply with minimum operating standards in four key areas: The playing or participation programme, duty of care & child protection, sport equity & ethics and club management.
