A great team effort was rewarded by a superb third place at Stevenage today for our UK Women's League team. The UK Women's League is the highest level of league competition for our ladies and a delighted team manager, Sally Stevens, said that everyone competing today really battled hard for every point which was so important in a tightly fought contest. This result leaves the team placed 4th in the league with the last match of the year to be held at Bedford on Saturday July 28th. This year’s British Universities and Colleges Sports Championships (BUCS) were held in the new Olympic Stadium over the long early bank Holiday weekend in May as a trial event for the Olympic Games to be held later this year. Several of the Club’s students took part in the Championships taking this once in a lifetime (for most) opportunity to compete on the same track & filed as the Worlds best athletes who will visit in August and September. Following the club’s promotion to the Southern Premier Division, the team travelled to Eton on Sunday 29th April realising it was always going to be a tough first match. However, it was made tougher by a combination of athlete unavailability and the great English weather! Having rained solidly in the days before the match it continued on the day.
