This second Eastern Young Athletes League match was closely fought by the seven clubs involved, so the Herts Phoenix athletes were disappointed to finish in 6th place despite a number of good performances by the athletes. Lauren Simpson was the only under 13 girl to win an event with her jump of 4.67 metres in the Long Jump and Christa Hetherington gained valuable points in winning both the 200 metres in 27.2 seconds and the 75m Hurdles in 11.8 seconds in the under 15 Girls’ events.There were wins in the under 17 Women’s age group for Georgia McKenzie in the 800 metres with a time of 2:25.2, Erin Breen with a clearance of 2.90 metres in Pole Vault and Megan Fielding with a leap of 5.38 metres in the Long Jump. Louise Reilly won the “B” string Discus with a throw of 17.81 metres. Thomas Hughes and Brandon Reid won their respective 800 metres in 2:38.0 and 1500 metres 5:48.4 for the under 13 boys. Daniel Olaitan won the under 15 boys’ “B” string 100 metres race in 12.5 seconds and there was a double win in the under 17 men’s Long Jump competition for Nathan Burke “A” string and Morgan Baidoo “B” string with clearances of 6.02 metres and 5.72 metres respectively.
