Herts Phoenix senior women travelled to Exeter for their first UK Women’s League match and after some outstanding performances and excellent team work with many athletes competing in additional events managed to secure an unexpected win by just two points over second placed City of Liverpool. Hannah Williams and Ellie Bandy won their respective 400 metres races and Stephanie Williams set a new very good personal best time of 2:13.76 in an unaccustomed 800 metres race and then set another personal best time of 17.07 seconds in winning the “B” string 100m Hurdles race. Alex Hill ran a very good “A” string 400m Hurdles race with a new personal best time of 62.75 seconds which was followed by Hayley Kruse winning the “B” string race. Hayley went on the win the “A” string High Jump with Gemma Armorgie winning the “B” string and also winning “B” String Javelin with Eleanor Moss winning the “A” string. Kara Peck won the “A” string Triple Jump with a clearance of 10.86 metres and training partner Sally Cowler won her “B” string Long Jump clearing 5.07 metres.
