The South of England indoor U20 & Senior Championships took place at LeeValley on the weekend of 16th & 17th of January. Herts phoenix athletes came home with 3 medals.
Laura Armorgie was in good form in the U20 high jump winning the Gold medal with a leap of 1.75m. Lauren Thompson jumped 5.60m in the senior women’s long jump to take the silver medal. She also ran 8.87 for second place in her 60m hurdles heat but despite reaching the semi finals was unable to run in that race. And new club member Emily Hack ran 59.64 in the U20 400m for the silver.
Other club athletes in action were U20 400m athletes Hannah Williams (56.27) who won her heat in the senior race despite being tripped, Ellie Bandy (58.87) and Zoe Benton (60.01) They all made it through from the semis but did not contest the final. U 20 Sally Cowler competed in the long jump (4.97) and the 60m hurdles (10.00). Erin Breen came 5th in her first year in the U20 pole vault competition with 3.10m Luke Smith ran in the 400m U20 race achieving 54.35 to come 3rd in his heat and 55.52 in the semi final.
