Essex County Champs 2016 Report

The Essex County Championships took place at Chelmsford on Saturday & Sunday 14th & 15th May.

Three Herts Phoenix athletes who live in the County were competing, and between them came home with 4 medals and a championship best performance.

Senior athlete Alex Hill ran in the 400m on Saturday and won the bronze medal with a time of 57.54 in a very competitive race. She then returned on Sunday to go one better for the silver in the 400m hurdles with a PB time of 61.32.

Zoe Benton also achieved the silver medal in her U20 400m hurdle race. It was a tough race, and Zoe’s first back after an injury prevented her from training for a couple of weeks.

In the Field Laura Armorgie won the gold medal in the U20 high jump with a leap of 1.73. This is above National standard height for her English Schools age category, and was also a new County Record.
