Despite having to field a slightly depleted team, with some athletes having been invited to compete in the Loughborough International, the Herts Phoenix Senior team had an excellent result at Erith last Sunday. The weather conditions were warm and sunny which suited both athletes and officials and after a very closely fought match Herts Phoenix ran out winners by just 1.5 points with a total of 193 points, just ahead of London Heathside with 191.5 points, Bexley AC with 178.5 points and Croydon Harriers with 172 points

 

There were double wins for Lauren Thompson 67.7 and Aby Griffiths 75.7 in the 400m hurdles, with both athletes recording new personal best performances, Ellie Bandy 58.8 and Louise Reilly 63.00 in the 400m and Hayley Kruse 10.38m and Aby Griffiths 9.78m in the triple jump. Erin Breen won the pole vault with a clearance of 3.20m.”B” string winners were Alice Semark in the 100m hurdles with 16.9, , Emily Hack 26.00 in the 200m, Louise Reilly 1.53m in the high jump and Megan Fielding 4.93m in the long jump. New personal best performances were achieved by Eleanor Moss 18.57m in the hammer, Emily Hack 12.8 in the 100m and 26.0 in the 200m, Charlotte Gaynor 24.36.4 in the 5000m and Hayley Kruse 9.30m in the shot. The women comfortably won both of their relay races

 

There were some excellent performances in the men with Eden Davis running very well to win the 100m in 11.0, the 200m in 22.4 and the 400m with a new personal best time of 51.5. Steve Prosser set a new personal best when winning the “B” string 3000m in 9:39.6. James Lonngren-Sampaio and Nathan Burke, with a new personal best jump, completed a double win in Triple Jump with 13.23m and 13.21m respectively. Jason Kingwell won the “A” string Shot Putt with 11.53m and had second places in Discus and Hammer, whilst colleague James Grove won “B” string Discus with a new personal best throw of 31.40m and Hammer with 33.49m and a second place in Shot Putt. There were new personal best performances by Alex Harrison of 56.6 in the “B” string 400m and Harry Pateman with 2:02.8 in the “B” string 800m races.
