Jodie Williams Flies in Rio

August 22, 2016

Herts Phoenix athlete Jodie Williams has been in action at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

After being injured before the 2012 Olympic Games, Jodie was selected to run in the 200 metres in Rio.

She set a season’s best time of 22.69 seconds (also her best time since 2014) to finish 3rd in her heat and qualify for the semi-finals.  However her semi-final time of 22.99 seconds in 8th place was not enough to get into the final.

Her team-mate Dina Asher-Smith from the Blackheath & Bromley club, finished 5th in the final.

It's great to see a club athlete go on to such big things. We are sure there are even bigger things to come for Jodie!
